EN 1149 + IEC 61482-2 Standards Electrostatic Properties, ATEX Environments.

Certified and approved garments that protect against electrostatic discharge according to EN 1149. Be fully protected, know what coverage you require.  

Be aware that some Hi-vis safety jackets or the likes of tool belts etc. are not EN1149 certified causing a break in your protection from Electrostatic Discharge.  It is important that you are grounded by also wearing Anti-static shoes. 

This type of protection is for workers in petrochemistry, energy, refinery, maintenance, offshore and ATEX environments.

Protection against, Static electricity, which can cause sparks. EN 1149 clothing reduces the risk of sparks in explosive environments or when handling flammable or explosive substance. 

ATEX – a potentially explosive environment. The regulations apply where someone at work may be exposed to danger caused by an explosive environment. Applies to environments where there is a risk of explosive atmospheres being formed due to flammable gasses, liquids, dust and steam.
  • Examples of ATEX environments:
  • Energy Companies with solid fuel, oil fuel and/or natural gas.
  • Petrochemical industry
  • Powder and chemical handling in various forms.
  • Forestry industry.
  • Munition manufacturing.
  • Workplaces handling LPG or other flammable gas/liquid.

The ATEX directives ensure that you are protected while in an ATEX environment. The following certifications are recommended.

  • EN 1149-5 Electrostatic Discharge
  • EN ISO 11612 Heat & Flame
  • IEC 61482-2 Electric Arc
